How to add an AI scribe to Practice Fusion

1. Install the Alcove Chrome extension

   Install the Alcove extension from the Chrome Web Store once. There is no server to configure and no IT project.

2. Open a patient chart in Practice Fusion

   Open any patient's chart in Practice Fusion. Alcove opens in a sidebar directly inside your Practice Fusion workspace.

3. Record the visit

   Start recording from the Alcove sidebar and speak normally. Alcove records only while you have it running and stops when you stop it.

4. Review the verified note

   Alcove drafts a SOAP note, then a second AI re-reads it against the transcript and strikes anything the visit does not support. You review every line.

5. Inject into the chart with one click

   When you approve the note, Alcove injects it into the correct SOAP fields of the Practice Fusion chart with one click. There is no copy and paste between a separate app and the EHR.

Why a browser extension, not a FHIR integration

Practice Fusion's third-party API is effectively read-only for clinical data: it lets approved apps read patient data, but it does not expose a write API that lets an outside application file a finished note into the chart. So an AI scribe that actually puts your note where it belongs has to work through the Practice Fusion interface, not around it.
